Hefty is a modular furniture system combining cast iron legs with a wooden surface. The design draws on the curves and symmetry of plastic objects from the 1960s and 70s — a deliberate contrast to the weight and tradition of cast iron. Two identical pairs of legs slot together without fixings, supporting an interchangeable wooden top that allows the piece to function as a bench in varying sizes. Developed as a second-year project at HSLU.
